Abstract

Este trabalho atualiza as informações através das revisões do desenvolvimento técnicoeconômico do cultivo de mexilhão, baseado principalmente sob as informações nacionais providas pelos especialistas e instituições relacionadas. Especificamente as revisões demonstram as perspectivas da produção comercial, assim como os principais meios para o desenvolvimento técnico-econômico do cultivo de mexilhões. Os resultados demonstram que são necessários programas experimentais para o desenvolvimento de técnicas básicas para a produção de mexilhões no Estado do Ceará. A partir da perspectiva econômica e da experiência de Santa Catarina, estado do Brasil detentor de uma substancial indústria de mexilhões, conclui que, se o cultivo de mexilhões for implantado no Ceará, poderá apresentar oportunidades para o avanço econômico das comunidades costeiras com a geração de emprego e lucros em moedas estrangeiras.
