Transformaciones Educativas en Chiapas: El Edificio Escolar y sus Mejoras Materiales en los Albores del Porfiriato

Abstract

El artículo presenta un estudio sobre la educación chiapaneca, a partir de las mejoras materiales realizadas por los gobiernos en turno durante el inicio del periodo conocido como el Porfiriato. El interés principal es responder a dos preguntas principalmente: ¿cómo se explica la educación chiapaneca desde la realización de mejoras materiales? y ¿qué significados o efectos sociales tuvo la consolidación de la infraestructura escolar durante el tránsito del siglo XIX al XX? Con estas interrogantes se intenta recuperar a la infraestructura escolar como otra vía importante para acceder a nuevos conocimientos en torno a la educación chiapaneca. Por eso la premisa inicial del trabajo es que la educación produce y depende a la vez de factores externos, lo que permite colocar la comprensión de los procesos educativos en el marco de una simbiosis que la hace entendible a nuestros ojos. La interpretación histórica es parte del enfoque metodológico utilizado, que se vale de la información proveniente de memorias de gobierno y fuentes hemerográficas.
