La Nueva encuesta de gasto turístico (Egatur) en el marco de la Unión Monetaria Europea

Abstract

El artículo describe los trabajos realizados a lo largo de tres años por el Instituto de Estudios Turísticos en materia de gasto turístico, en colaboración con el Instituto Nacional de Estadística y el Banco de España. El esfuerzo conjunto de las tres instituciones ha hecho posible que por primera vez en España se realice una encuesta en fronteras de ámbito nacional encaminada a obtener estimaciones detalladas del gasto realizado por los residentes fuera de España y el gasto de los no residentes en nuestro país. La nueva Encuesta de Gasto Turístico (Egatur) ha sido reconocida internacionalmente por la Task Force Travel de la Oficina de Estadística de la Unión Europea (Eurostat) como modelo de investigación y ejemplo a seguir por el resto de países de la Unión. Egatur surge para dar respuesta a las necesidades del Banco de España en materia de estimación de los ingresos y pagos de la rúbrica de turismo de la cuenta corriente de la Balanza de Pagos en el nuevo escenario de la moneda única.
