Cuerpos desnudos, plurales y caricaturizados de atletas griegos: Memoria e identidad

Abstract

En el estudio de las imágenes áticas de los deportistas, se destaca el predominio de la representación de cuerpos caracterizados por el equilibrio y las formas proporcionadas, creando la noción de un cuerpo atlético hegemónico y único que se mantuvo inmortalizado en la memoria de los helenos. Esta noción no se sostiene si observamos la existencia de un grupo significativo de imágenes que presentan cuerpos figurados alejados de este modelo idealizado de representación. Hay una diversidad de representaciones corporales en las cerámicas atenienses —desde cuerpos extremadamente delgados hasta gordos— que no se pueden ignorar. En este texto, analizaremos esta diversidad y defenderemos la hipótesis de que esta variedad era una burla hacia los deportistas creada por los artistas. Afirmamos, además, que la existencia de una diversidad de representaciones de los cuerpos de los deportistas en la cerámica resalta la construcción de identidades y una memoria más plural, superando la idealización del discurso de la polis. La documentación para este estudio consistirá en imágenes áticas sobre soporte cerámico de la época clásica (siglos V y IV a.C.).
