Abstract

La depresión posparto es un trastorno mental severo que afecta al 10-15 % de las mujeres durante las cuatro semanas posteriores al parto, la cual presenta una serie de consecuencias importantes tanto para la madre como para el hijo o ambiente familiar, por lo que se debe detectar a tiempo para minimizar las consecuencias. Por otro lado, el uso de drogas es un problema de salud pública que afecta a toda la población incluso a las mujeres puérperas, en donde se ha identificado que a nivel mundial la prevalencia de madres adictas es del 11.42 %, esto se ha asociado a la presión de la maternidad y a los sintomas de depresión. El abuso de sustancias ilicitas y la depresión posparto en este grupo poblacional son dos condiciones de salud mental que pueden coexistir teniendo un impacto significativo en la salud y bienestar de las madres e hijos. Esta revisión tiene como propósito generar información actualizada y determinar la prevalencia de depresión posparto y su relación con el uso de drogas en pacientes puérperas del Hospital General Guasmo Sur mediante el uso Test de Edinburgh y Test de identificación para trastornos por consumo de drogas, presentado en las Jornadas Médicas del Hospital Alcívar en Guayaquil, Ecuador.
