Abstract

This thesis focuses on the idea of sexual difference and analyzes the characters created by four Catalan writers of the 20th century: Caterina Albert, Mercè Rodoreda, Maria Aurèlia Capmany and Montserrat Roig. The goals that have led to the study of man from their perspective are linked to the concepts of genealogy, alterity and hegemonic masculinity. In particular, throughout the chapters, we have seen how sex/gender identity has played a fundamental role in the constitution of creative subjects, which has led us to defend the existence of common traits that are grouped under the umbrella of women's writing. On the basis of this approach, we have tried to establish a link between the four authors selected through the study of one particular aspect: the construction of the male characters. This task has resulted in a calidoscopic view of man. Programa de Doctorat en Llengües Aplicades, Literatura i Traducció
