Capitalismo de vigilancia y control fronterizo: La frontera digital entre México y Estados Unidos

Abstract

Este artículo analiza críticamente las implicaciones en la seguridad y la privacidad en la frontera digital entre Estados Unidos y México, situándolas dentro del marco del capitalismo de la vigilancia. El objetivo es demostrar que las tecnologías implementadas en esta región no solo responden a lógicas de securitización, sino que también fortalecen una economía política sustentada en la extracción de datos, el control algorítmico y la reproducción de desigualdades estructurales. Para ello, se llevó a cabo un análisis documental centrado en literatura académica, reportes de organizaciones no gubernamentales y estudios críticos sobre vigilancia digital. La estrategia metodológica consistió en identificar patrones de uso de tecnologías de vigilancia —como infraestructuras biométricas, sensores remotos, inteligencia artificial y bases de datos interconectadas— y analizar sus consecuencias en términos de privacidad, discriminación y gobernanza digital. Los hallazgos revelan que el despliegue tecnológico en la frontera refuerza prácticas de exclusión, promueve formas de control preventivo y amplía la vigilancia más allá de los límites territoriales convencionales. Además, se identifica una creciente participación del sector privado en el diseño e implementación de estas infraestructuras, lo que plantea desafíos adicionales en términos de rendición de cuentas y protección de derechos fundamentales.
