PENGARUH LIMBAH ABU SEKAM PADI SEBAGAI BAHAN CAMPURAN TERHADAP SIFAT MEKANIK BATU BATA

Abstract

Batu bata merupakan bahan bangunan yang telah lama dikenal dan dipakai oleh masyarakat baik di pedesaan maupun di perkotaan yang berfungsi untuk bahan bangunan konstruksi. Pada penelitian ini bahan pembuat batu bata dicampur dengan abu sekam padi. Abu sekam padi yang dihasilkan dari sisa pembakaran akan mengandung silika yang tinggi. Komposisi campuran abu sekam padi pada pembuatan batu bata ini adalah 0%, 10%, 20% dan 30%. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui pengaruh abu sekam padi sebagai bahan campuran batu bata terhadap sifat mekanik batu bata yang ditinjau dari aspek kerapatan semu (apparent density), penyerapan air dan kuat tekan serta mengetahui persentase terbaik penambahan abu sekam padi sebagai bahan campuran batu bata terhadap sifat mekanik batu bata yang ditinjau dari aspek kerapatan semu (apparent density), penyerapan air dan kuat tekan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa hubungan nilai kuat tekan batu bata dengan nilai kerapatan semu yaitu semakin tinggi nilai kerapatan semu batu bata, maka semakin tinggi nilai kuat tekan, hubungan nilai kuat tekan batu dengan penyerapan air yaitu semakin tinggi nilai penyerapan air batu bata, maka semakin kecil nilai kuat tekan. Persentase penambahan abu sekam padi pada pembuatan batu bata dengan nilai optimal diperoleh pada campuran 10% dan 20% abu sekam padi. Pada penelitian ini nilai sifat mekanik kerapatan semu dan penyerapan air memenuhi standar SNI 15-2094-2000. Namun untuk nilai kuat tekan tidak memenuhi standar SNI 15-2094-2000.
