Abstract

El presente artículo tiene como propósito analizar la historia y el desarrollo de la cultura Paracas. La misma fue asentada en el norte del actual Perú y se extendió desde Chincha hasta Yauca en el departamento de Arequipa llegando a ser una de las culturas más extensas de su época. En la investigación se utilizaron los métodos teóricos, histórico-lógico, así como el analítico-sintético; en el análisis de diferentes documentos investigativos que permitieron construir una caracterización de esta cultura que fue descubierta en 1925. Esta civilización se dividió en dos periodos según sus técnicas de inhumación, “Paracas-Cavernas”, y “Paracas-Necrópolis”. En general, esta civilización tenía un dios principal llamado Kon; Practicaban la textilería con lana y algodón, así como la cerámica; sus cuevas estaban ubicadas bajo la arena y su agricultura se basaba en el cultivo de maíz y frutas. La trepanación craneal era de uso común y se aplicaba a los lugareños que sufrían de dolores de cabeza o contusiones, tenían una estructura social que favorecía a los sacerdotes y soldados sobre el resto de su población. La cultura Paracas es importante en la historia peruana y sudamericana; conocer su desarrollo permite comprender la forma de vida de sus ancestros
