AKTIVITAS ANTIBAKTERI EKSTRAK BAWANG PUTIH ( Allium Sativum L) TERHADAP Staphylococcus aureus

Abstract

Fenomena resistensi bakteri terhadap antibiotik saat ini menjadi masalahutama dalam dunia kefarmasian. Hal ini menyebabkan antibiotik menjadi kurang efektif dalampengobatan. Bawang putih (Allium sativum L) secara tradisional telah dikenal sejak lama sebagaiantibiotik dan banyak digunakan sebagai alternatif pengobatan alami dari beberapa penyakitkarena infeksi. Senyawa yang berperan sebagai antibakteri yang terkandung dalam bawangputih adalah allisin, alkaloid, saponin dan tanin. Bakteri Staphylococcus aureus merupakanbakteri gram positif penyebab penyakit seperti bisul, jerawat, pneumonia, meningitis danarthtritis.Tujuan : Mengetahui efektivitas ekstrak bawang putih sebagai antibakteri terhadapbakteri Staphylococcus aureus. Metode Penelitian : Penelitian Eksperimental dengan desainPost Only Control. Bawang putih (Allium sativum L) diekstrak dengan metode maserasi denganpelarut etanol. Ekstrak etanol bawang putih dibuat dengan variasi konsentrasi 25%, 50%, 75%dan 100%. Akuadest digunakan sebagai kontrol. Kemudian diamati daya hambatnya terhadapbakteri Staphylococcus aureus dengan metode difusi cakram. Hasil : Pada konsentrasi 25%, zonahambat bakteri yang dihasilkan sebesar 0,826 cm, konsentrasi 50% sebesar 0,836 cm,konsentrasi 75% sebesar 0,896 cm, dan konsentrasi 100% adalah 1,028 cm.Kesimpulan : Hasilpenelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak bawang putih mempunyai aktivitas anti bakteriterhadap S. Aureus. Semakin besar konsentrasi ekstrak, aktivitasnya juga semakin besar.
