Abstract

El triaje es un procedimiento sanitario ante urgencias, emergencias y catástrofes para seleccionar y ordenar pacientes, dándoles prioridad en atención y tratamiento a aquellos con mayores posibilidades de supervivencia, en función de las necesidades terapéuticas y los recursos de los que dispongan los servicios. Además, más allá del triaje hospitalario y extrahospitalario, el triaje telefónico tras su utilización y auge durante la pandemia de Covid-19 ha sido una función asumida por enfermería y que tiene perspectivas de futuro. Un ejemplo de ello es la introducción de enfermeras en la plantilla del Centro Coordinador de Urgencias del 061 en Andalucía. Es fundamental la labor de enfermería en la realización del triaje, pues se ha demostrado a lo largo del tiempo, que ayuda a disminuir la congestión de las salas de urgencias pues a su vez reduce los tiempos de espera. La figura de la Enfermera de Prácticas Avanzadas al igual que otras nuevas especialidades y competencias adquiridas por enfermería, hacen que las enfermeras estén suficientemente capacitadas para tramitar, manejar y dar solución a demandas urgentes o de prioridad baja en los CCUE.
