Abstract

Fisheries management plays a critical role in ensuring the sustainable utilization of aquatic resources while balancing ecological, economic, and social objectives. This abstract provides an overview of key principles, approaches, and challenges associated with fisheries management. Effective fisheries management strategies encompass a range of measures, including stock assessment, regulation of fishing efforts, habitat protection, and stakeholder engagement. Science-based management decisions, adaptive management approaches, and ecosystem-based management frameworks are essential for addressing complex and dynamic fisheries issues. Challenges such as overexploitation, habitat degradation, climate change, and governance gaps highlight the need for integrated and collaborative management approaches. Sustainable fisheries management requires the involvement of multiple stakeholders, including government agencies, industry stakeholders, non-governmental organizations, and local communities, in participatory decision-making processes. By implementing comprehensive and adaptive fisheries management strategies, it is possible to achieve the dual goals of conserving marine resources and supporting the livelihoods and food security of present and future generations.
