Nuevos registros de distribución de Grallaricula flavirostris (Grallaridae) en la cordillera oriental de los Andes colombianos

Abstract

We present new records of the Ochre-breasted Antpitta (Grallaricula flavirostris) into the Galilea Forest, at Villarrica and Dolores Tolima, from the western slope of the Cordillera Oriental of the Colombian Andes. We observed and captured several individuals in Río Naranjo (1580 m), La Chata (1860) Campo Hermosos (1950 m), and Riachón (2100 m) localities. Our records of this antpitta support declare the Galliliea Forest as a protected area of the eastern Tolima state, due to its Near Threatened (NT) category. In Colombia, deforestation to cattle ranching and agriculture is the main threat for this species. Furthermore, our records extend the known distribution of G. flavirostris to Tolima, and southward at the western slope of the Cordillera Oriental 380 km.
