
In this article, I review 40 years of research and reflection on the nature of the Solutrean phenomenon in the context of human survival during the Last Glacial Maximum in SW Europe. I trace the evolution of my thinking on the Solutrean through the course of several projects and the work of many colleagues in archeology, archeozoology, and paleoenvironmental and biogeographical studies.
