The goal of this work is to show the positive effects of porous asphalts on improving the quality of water that flows from asphalt surfaces and to present their advantages and disadvantages compared to traditional compacted asphalts. Porous asphalts mixtures are characterized by a high percentage of cavities. The road construction with porous asphalt mixtures must have, at the same time, a single system: required load capacity and to allow the filtration of atmospheric water through the porous asphalt layers. The daily increase in traffic has been analyzed from several angles. It's negative impact on the environment requires constant research for a solution to eliminate or at least reduce those effects. The open texture of porous asphalt improved drainage characteristics. Porous asphalts reduce the concentration of waste water particles that run off the pavement.
