Potensi Pemanfaatan Kandungan Flavonoid Tanaman Kumis Kucing (Orthosiphon stamineus) Sebagai Agen Terapi Asam Urat

Abstract

Penyakit sam urat adalah kondisi dimana kadar asam urat dalam darah terlalu tinggi Tingginya kadar asam urat dalam darah terjadi karena tubuh memproduksi terlalu banyak atau mengeleminasi terlalu sedikit asam urat. Tingginya kadar asam urat dapat menyebabkan masalah kesehatan seperti gout dan batu ginjal. Salah satu terapi yang dapat digunakan adalah tanaman herbal, seperti tanaman kumis kucing (Orthosiphon stamineus). Tanaman kumis kucing mengandung berbagai senyawa aktif, salah satu senyawa aktifnya adalah flavonoid. Flavonoid ditemukan memiliki aktivitas anti inflamasi sehingga diklaim memiliki potensi sebagai agen terapi untuk asam urat. Tujuan review artikel ini untuk mengetahui efek tanaman kumis kucing sebagai terapi penyakit asam urat atau gout. Metode yang digunakan adalah literature review yang menggunakan jurnal internasional dan jurnal nasional yang didapatkan dari Google Scholar, Science Direct, Researchgate, dan Pubmed dari tahun 2018 sampai dengan 2023. Dari beberapa penelitian yang dilakukan didapatkan hasil bahwa tanaman kumis kucing memiliki manfaat sebagai antiinflamasi. Senyawa aktif flavonoid di dalam tanaman Orthosiphon stamineus dapat menekan reaksi inflamasi yang dapat mengurangi peradangan dan nyeri yang berhubungan dengan asam urat
