Eksplorasi Potensi Bahan Alam Sebagai Tabir Surya

Abstract

Kulit manusia memiliki perlindungan tersendiri terhadap bahaya sinar UV, tetapi radiasi ultraviolet yang berlebih dapat mengakibatkan perlindungan ini berkurang. Radiasi ultraviolet seringkali menyebabkan kerusakan jaringan tubuh seperti eritema, edema, sunburn, tanning, hyperplasia, photoaging bahkan kanker kulit. Tabir surya merupakan salah satu produk yang dapat digunakan untuk membantu melindungi kulit. Tabir surya dari bahan alam berpotensi digunakan sebagai perlindungan kulit dari radiasi ultraviolet. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui potensi dari bahan alami yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai tabir surya. Metode yang digunakan adalah literatur review pada database jurnal penelitian dari tahun 2018 sampai 2023. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya potensi dari berbagai bahan alam baik dalam bentuk ekstrak maupun sediaan dengan pengujian secara in vitro. Tanaman yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai tabir surya seperti daun stroberi, pegagan, buah sirsak, buah pare, daun kelor, ganggang hijau, daun keledang dan biji buah alpukat. Tanaman tersebut banyak ditemukan mengandung senyawa fenolik terutama flavonoid yang terbukti mampu menyerap paparan sinar UV.
