Abstract

Propõe-se no presente artigo lançar luz sobre a questão que se impõe à psicanálise, desde seus primórdios, tendo em vista a simultânea aproximação e oposição entre hipnose, sugestão e especificidade do método psicanalítico. Em especial, as autoras elegem o contexto de criação da psicanálise para ilustrar tais aparentes contradições, tendo o conceito de transferência como elemento que as arremata. O texto se inicia com um breve panorama histórico sobre as terapêuticas baseadas na hipnose e na sugestão, seguido por uma apresentação de como, ao promover uma distinção entre hipnose e sugestão, Freud percebe que o abandono da primeira não significa a erradicação da segunda, na clínica. Com tal percurso, as autoras visam clarificar que, se essa constatação poderia aproximar perigosamente a psicanálise de um tratamento sugestivo, de uma forma decisiva Freud se apoia nela para proceder uma radical diferença entre os dois.
