Prevalência de Staphylococcus aureus meticilina resistentes em profissionais de saúde

Abstract

Objetivo: Determinar a prevalência de portadores assintomáticos de Staphylococcus aureus resistente à meticilina (MRSA) presente na mucosa nasal de profissionais de saúde. Método: estudo transversal, com 29 profissionais da saúde de um hospital-escola, no período de março a abril de 2012, através da coleta de swab da mucosa nasal. Os testes microbiológicos foram realizados na Universidade de Santa Cruz do Sul. Os dados foram analisados de forma descritiva, com risco α < 5% (p < 0,05) e intervalo de confiança de 95%. Resultados: S. aureus foi isolado na mucosa nasal de 26 dos 29 (89,6%) profissionais de saúde, e destes 7 (26,9%) apresentavam MRSA. As profissões mais acometidas por MRSA foram os técnicos de enfermagem, enfermeiros e estudantes, com menor tempo de trabalho na instituição. Conclusão: A prevalência observada da colonização dos profissionais de saúde por S. aureus e MRSA foi elevada, constituindo um risco para os pacientes.
