The objective of this study was to explore the significance of texture in creating ceramic form. In order to make texture an important part of the ceramic form, it is necessary to allow the form to suggest the kind of texture to be applied. The intent was to explore the effect of texture upon ceramic form, though it must be understood that throughout the study this exploration of surface accompanied a continuing search for significant, personal form. It was this desire to expand the realm of ceramic ideas which resulted in an intensive search for new ceramic surfaces.
