Abstract

ResumenEn el presente trabajo se relacionan los conceptos de rito, ceremonia y eficacia simbólica, en el marco de una concepción general de los procesos de comunicación. El enfoque propuesto se apoya en una visión antropo-semiótica de la comunicación, según la cual los fenómenos y procesos de comunicación que constituyen la cultura (Eco, 1980), abarcan todos los aspectos significacionales de la vida social. Nuestra hipótesis parte de dos principios generales: 1. Todo rito es un proceso de comunicación basado en un sistema de creencias; 2. Toda ceremonia es un rito. A partir de allí nos proponemos recurrir al concepto de eficacia simbólica (Lévi-Strauss, 1949) para explicar cómo los ritos –y en consecuencia la performance ceremonial- transforman la realidad social. Finalmente, se sugieren algunas reflexiones sobre el tiempo y el espacio ceremonial en comparación con el tiempo y el espacio cotidiano.
