Metal matrix composites are widely used. The demand for laminated composite metal materials is increasing rapidly. Copper steel, copper aluminum, titanium aluminum, and other layered composite metals (LCMs) materials have become a variety of metals with excellent performance. As a kind of cladding composite material with excellent comprehensive properties, sandwiched dissimilar metals (SDMs) have broad application prospects in many fields. The electric connection materials of electric vehicles, the shell materials of power batteries, and the heat dissipation materials of AI servers all put forward new requirements for LCMs. SDMs guided by the needs of industrial applications will usher in rapid development. In this paper, the characteristics, preparative technique, classification, interface bonding mechanism, methods and approaches to improve the interface bonding strength, and the application of SDMs are systematically summarized and introduced. It also proposes targeted problems and solutions encountered in the research process of SDMs and finally prospects for the development trend of them.
