Santé Canada a avisé Syngenta Seeds Canada Inc. qu’il ne s’oppose pas à l’utilisation alimentaire de la lignée de coton COT67B résistant aux insectes. Le Ministère a réalisé une évaluation approfondie de cette lignée de coton conformément à ses Lignes directrices sur l’évaluation de l’innocuité des aliments nouveaux. Ces lignes directrices sont fondées sur des principes admis internationalement pour l’établissement de l’innocuité des aliments à caractères nouveaux. Health Canada has notified Syngenta Seeds Canada Inc. that it has no objection to the sale of food derived from Insect Resistant Cotton COT67B. The Department conducted a comprehensive assessment of this cotton event according to its Guidelines for the Safety Assessment of Novel Foods. These Guidelines are based upon internationally accepted principles for establishing the safety of foods with novel traits. The following provides a summary of the notification from Syngenta Seeds Canada and the evaluation by Heath Canada and contains no confidential business information.
