By recognizing the constitutional right to die, the Federal Constitutional Court strengthened the right to autonomy at the end of life in February 2020. New legal regulations have failed so far. The legal assessment of the various forms of euthanasia is largely based on case law. The current legal uncertainty is correspondingly high. The work first analyzes the current legal situation and comprehensively elaborates the existing need for action. It then looks at the AMHE-SterbehilfeG, which is evidently the most comprehensive draft law at present, and critically scrutinizes the proposed regulations.
