Abstract

Nicht zuletzt durch den Ukraine-Krieg ist das orthodoxe Christentum neu in den Fokus der Aufmerksamkeit der Weltpolitik gerückt. Dabei sind die Orthodoxen trotz aller Konflikte zentraler Teil der Vielfalt des Christlichen heute. Was unterscheidet die orthodoxen und altorientalischen Kirchen voneinander? Welche Rolle spielen sie in den nationalen Konflikten? Wie positionieren sie sich in den ökumenischen Dialogen? Aber auch: Was sind die wichtigsten Impulse der traditionsreichen, teilweise sehr alten Kirchen für eine christliche Spiritualität heute? Wo kann auch die Theologie im Westen von ihnen lernen? Namhafte Autorinnen und Autoren geben Antworten auf diese Fragen.
