This study presents all the translations and editions in French of the Poetic Edda, a collection of mythological and heroic poems, collected notably in the Codex Regius around 1275. The fifty-five references that make up this bibliography include translations and editions of individual poems and parts of the Edda. The bibliography covers the period from the eighteenth century—starting with the publication in 1756 of Monumens de la mythologie et de la poesie des celtes by Paul-Henri Mallet, which includes excerpts from the Völuspá, the Hávamál, and the Baldrs draumar—to the beginning of the twenty-first century. This study is based upon and extends the bibliographies by Halldór Hermannsson and Jóhann Sigurjónsson Hannesson and therefore follows their format and approach. In addition to the inclusion of references for the second half of the twentieth century and the beginning of the twenty-first century, thirty-one titles from the period before the second half of the twentieth century have been added. The list also introduces five manuscripts by Félix Gynement de Keralio, Louis Le Pontois and Arsène Thiébaut de Berneaud that have never been published and that had never been studied before. The study also testifies to the interest for the Northern Antiquities in the nineteenth century, during which more than thirty French translations of the Poetic Edda were published.
