Abstract

La pesca es una de las principales actividades económicas en el río Putumayo, a pesar de la poca información biológica generada de las especies explotadas. El objetivo fue caracterizar la biología reproductiva de Hypophthalmus edentatus y Brycon amazonicus en la cuenca media del río Putumayo (Loreto-Perú). Se capturaron 192 especímenes de H. edentatus, de longitud y peso promedio de 34,35 cm y 175,9 g respectivamente, y 152 especímenes de B. amazonicus, con longitud y peso promedio de 30,73 y 175,9 ± 40,6 g, respectivamente. Estos ejemplares fueron colectados entre noviembre de 2020 y octubre de 2021 en el puerto pesquero y el mercado municipal de El Estrecho y mediante pesca exploratoria. La talla de primera madurez sexual (L50) de H. edentatus fue de 26,5 y 28,3 cm de longitud estándar (LE) e índice gonadosomático (IGS) máximo de 1,6% y 0,6%, para hembras y machos, respectivamente. Para la especie B. amazonicus la L50 fue de 25,1 cm y 24,8 cm de LE y IGS máximo de 6.9% y 1,09% E para hembras y machos, respectivamente. Para ambas especies la proporción sexual promedio fue de 2:1 (hembras: machos). A partir de estos resultados se recomienda implementar estrategias efectivas para la conservación de ambas especies.
