Abstract

Introducción: Los estudios poblacionales describen que el sexo tiene un efecto profundo en la epidemiologia de la enfermedad renal. El objetivo del presente estudio fue describir el perfil epidemiológico y clínico de mujeres con enfermedad renal ingresadas en la unidad de cuidados críticos que ameritaron terapia renal sustitutiva. Métodos: Estudio descriptivo observacional de corte transversal realizado en el Hospital Nacional de la Mujer en la ciudad de San Salvador entre los años 2017 a 2021. La muestra fue no probabilística. Resultados: El rango de edad más frecuente de pacientes es entre los 21 a 30 años representando el 46% de la población. El 76% de las pacientes ingresadas en el estudio tenían patologia obstétrica mientras que el 24% únicamente tenían patologia ginecológica. En cuanto a patologías crónicas presentes al momento de iniciar la TRR, el 28% no tenía patologías crónicas preexistentes; en el resto de la población, la patología renal estuvo presente en 45% del total de casos siendo esta la predominante sobre otros diagnósticos. Conclusión: En el sexo femenino las patologías ginecológicas y obstétricas tanto en presencia como en ausencia de enfermedad renal conocida se asocian con una alta tasa de necesidad de terapia de reemplazo renal.
