Abstract

Holistyczne podejście do pacjenta wymaga interdyscyplinarnego działania wielu specjalistów. Optymalne funkcjonowanie pacjenta nie dotyczy tylko jego somatyczności, ale obejmuje wszystkie aspekty życia, wykraczając daleko poza klasyczny schemat zdrowia i choroby. Wielość płaszczyzn funkcjonowania człowieka i osobnicze zróżnicowanie potrzeb określa skalę zapotrzebowania na daną kompleksową pomoc. Światowy wzrost populacji osób w wieku geriatrycznym będzie wymagał modyfikacji systemu pomocy tym osobom i dalszy wzrost zapotrzebowania na usługi w tej grupie wiekowej.
