Abstract

En el Hospital Central Militar, la infección en las vías urinarias (IVU) fue motivo de un estudio prospectivo en 551 mujeres embarazadas (internas y externas), las cuales se clasificaron por trimestre de embarazo. Se correlacionó el examen general de orina (EGO) con urocultivo positivo y negativo. Se concluyó que existen parámetros en el primero de ellos, que indican infección con un 99% de confiabilidad. Fue factible determinar que de cada 100 embarazadas 5 tienen infección urinaria, principalmente en el último trimestre y el agente causal más común es E. coli.
