PIAGET REVISITADO: EVIDÊNCIAS E DESAFIOS ATUAIS

Abstract

As teorias do desenvolvimento cognitivo de Jean Piaget marcaram profundamente a psicologia e a educação ao longo do século XX, fornecendo uma base interpretativa para compreender os processos de construção do conhecimento. Entretanto, críticas contemporâneas apontam limitações relacionadas à subestimação das capacidades cognitivas dos lactentes, à superestimação das competências dos adolescentes e à pouca atenção atribuída aos fatores socioculturais e interacionais. Justifica-se, assim, a necessidade de revisitar o referencial piagetiano, tanto para identificar suas contribuições quanto para reconhecer suas insuficiências diante dos avanços atuais. O objetivo deste estudo é analisar criticamente a epistemologia genética de Piaget, destacando sua influência na educação e apontando fragilidades teóricas e metodológicas que emergem à luz de pesquisas mais recentes. Do ponto de vista metodológico, trata-se de uma revisão teórico-crítica baseada em literatura especializada, privilegiando estudos contemporâneos que revisitam e problematizam a aplicabilidade dos estágios piagetianos. Foram consultadas obras clássicas do autor, além de produções recentes em psicologia do desenvolvimento, educação e neurociências, permitindo um diálogo entre a tradição e as perspectivas atuais. Conclui-se que, embora a teoria piagetiana mantenha relevância ao evidenciar a importância da atividade da criança no processo de aprendizagem, ela requer atualização frente às descobertas sobre o papel da linguagem, da cultura e da interação social no desenvolvimento cognitivo. As contribuições de Piaget permanecem fundamentais como marco histórico e epistemológico, mas devem ser articuladas a outras abordagens para subsidiar práticas educativas mais críticas, contextualizadas e responsivas às demandas contemporâneas da formação humana.
