Alimentos ultraprocesados y su impacto en la obesidad infantil

Abstract

La obesidad infantil fue catalogada por la Organización Mundial de la Salud como una crisis de salud pública. México ocupa el primer lugar a nivel mundial en obesidad infantil. Según datos del Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía en México, los infantes tienen prevalencia de sobrepeso por diversos factores. Sin embargo, este problema se relaciona con el consumo excesivo de alimentos ultraprocesados, pues son altos en grasas, sodio y azúcares. El exceso de azúcares añadidos genera una ingesta calórica elevada. Esto puede desarrollar la obesidad y el síndrome metabólico en infantes. Para desarrollar este ensayo se realizó una serie de revisiones bibliográficas para analizar el desarrollo de estrategias didácticas enfocados en infantes de siete a 12 años, así como los factores a considerar para crear un prototipo. Las investigaciones revisadas indicaron que en la infancia se forman hábitos alimenticios influenciados por el entorno familiar y escolar. Por lo tanto, incorporar una herramienta lúdica en las aulas escolares de nivel básico ayudará a que los niños comprendan e integren conocimientos sobre alimentos ultraprocesados. Además, es importante aplicar los principios de la NOM-051 y el sistema NOVA de manera divertida para que los infantes se interesen en aprender sobre este tema.
