Autocuidado y condición de salud del personal de enfermería

Abstract

El presente artículo tuvo como objetivo buscar la relación que existe entre el autocuidado y la condición de salud del personal de enfermería, que labora en instituciones de salud públicas y privadas de la zona urbana de la ciudad de San Miguel, El Salvador. Para ello, la metodología utilizada fue la hipotética deductiva con un enfoque cuantitativo y un alcance descriptivo. Entre los resultados se identificó que, los profesionales de enfermería jóvenes realizan estrategias de autocuidado, los que padecen alguna patología llevan control y seguimiento; pero existe un grupo significativo que padece sobrepeso, obesidad e hipertensión arterial; aspectos que son determinantes para la salud. De igual forma, se comprobó que la profesión de enfermería es llevada a cabo, en su mayoría, por mujeres. Se concluye que, las enfermeras están sometidas a una doble jornada laboral que puede llevar a un gran desgaste físico, además deben cumplir una segunda jornada laboral en sus hogares, como amas de casa, esposas y madres.
