Masculinidades vacacionales y veraniegas: el Rodríguez y el donjuán en el turismo de masas

Abstract

Este artículo se centra en el significado de los arquetipos masculinos del Rodríguez y del Don Juan, ambas representaciones de una masculinidad que se consolida durante el tardo franquismo en el contexto del turismo de masas y de las prácticas vacacionales más extendidas entre las clases medias. Se trata de representaciones del sujeto masculino que se elaboran desde lógicas distintas en la construcción de la masculinidad y del orden de género franquista. El Donjuan se construye como arquetipo de macho ibérico, burlador y seductor de mujeres que incorpora componentes de primitivismo, de orientalismo y de misoginia en el asentamiento de su hipermasculinidad. En el caso del Rodríguez el perfil de marido, cabeza de una familia tradicional son las claves que marcan los componentes de esta masculinidad celtibérica que se conforma con las convenciones sociales pero, en el momento de las vacaciones familiares, adopta una fugaz disidencia respecto a la identidad masculina.Este artículo examina la construcción de ambas modalidades de masculinidad y explora su potencial para fortalecer o erosionar los mecanismos culturales de poder y de género del régimen franquista.
