Pesticide Residue Management in Grapes

Abstract

A laboratory experiment was conducted in completely randomized design (CRD) to evaluate the effectiveness of various decontamination methods in removing pesticide residues from grapes during 2022-2023. Organically grown grape plants at fruiting stage were selected from Cumbum, Theni district of Tamil Nadu and sprayed with a mixture of eleven pesticides at double the recommended dose selected based on data obtained from monitoring studies. Soaking grapes in a solution of 2% sodium carbonate solution resulted in maximum removal of residues, which was followed by soaking in lukewarm water for 10 min. Among radiation treatments, gamma radiation at 1 kGy was an effective method for eliminating residues.
