La capacidad predictiva de la información contable: El fracaso empresarial

Abstract

El fracaso empresarial o la quiebra de una empresa es un evento que puede producir perdidas substanciales a bancos, proveedores y accionistas de la firma, de allí el interés de anticiparce o predecir la quiebra y el momento en que la misma ocurrirá. La quiebra es usualmente un evento comportamental. Puede darse que dos empresas con similar situación económico-financiera una de ellas se encuentre en quiebra o convocatoria de acreedores y la otra no, debido a la decisión de los inversores o de los acreedores de cada una. No obstante el carácter comportamental de la quiebra, se puede determinar la situación económica-financiera de "quiebra" mediante el uso de los estados contables. La detección de dificultades operativas y financieras de una compañía es un tema normalmente sometido al análisis de ratios financieros. Se han hechos numerosos estudios a nivel internacional para determinar el grado de predictibilidad que ofrece la información contable a través estos índices. En el presente trabajo se analizan los modelos mas comunes poniendo énfasis en el modelo multivariable mediante la técnica del análisis discriminante. Posteriormente se aplican estos desarrollos en empresas de nuestro medio para analizar los resultados obtenidos.
