The new models of institutional response to juvenile offenders are tending gradually toward community intervention. Possibilities of internment for these offenders are being slowly reduced in favour of alternative measures. This tendency can be extended to the reduction of the number of trials they are involved in, by means of extrajucidial reparation of damage. The article centres on the psychosocial intervention aspects included in these programs.
