Abstract

La Amenorrea Hipotalámica funcional (AHF) es un trastorno reversible que se caracteriza por supresión del eje hipotálamo hipófisis ovárico (HHO) en respuesta al estrés y baja disponibilidad energética. La hormona de crecimiento, la hormona corticotrópa, las kisspeptinas y las hormonas tiroideas participan como parte de una respuesta adaptativa ante los cambios del eje gonadal. La AHF se presenta frecuentemente en las atletas y en las pacientes con anorexia nerviosa, pudiendo encontrar su origen en situaciones de estrés. Se acompaña de cambios en la densidad mineral ósea, infertilidad y trastornos emocionales, generando deterioro en la calidad de vida de la mujer. Conocer y actuar sobre el agente estresor y el desbalance energético son parte de la estrategia terapéutica para recuperar los ciclos menstruales ovulatorios
