Abstract

Diabetes melitus (DM) merupakan salah satu gangguan kesehatan yang disebabkan oleh adanya peningkatan kadar glukosa darah yang disebabkan akibat kurangnya insulin atau reistensi insulin. Indonesia merupakan negara yang menempati urutan ke 7 dengan penderita DM sejumlah 8,5 juta. aPenggunaan obat sintetik dalam jangka waktu yang lama dapat menyebabkan efek samping. Sehingga dilakukan penelitian mengenai obat herbal. Salah satunya tumbuhan dari daun andong merah (Cordyline fruticosa L.A Chevol) ini yang sebelumnya telah diteliti ekstrak etanolnya dan memiliki kandungan senyawa flavanoid, saponin, dan tanin yang dapat beraktifitas sebagai antiabetes.Penelitian ini menggunakan 15 ekor mencit yang dibagi menjadi 5 kelompok yaitu kelompok kontrol negatif (Na.CMC), kontrol positif (Glibenklamid), kelompok fraksi Air 15%, kelompok fraksi N-heksana 15% dan kelompok fraksi etil asetat 15%. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode tes toleransi glukosa oral (TTGO). Analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan One way-ANOVA dilanjutkan dengan uji LSD.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa fraksi air, fraksi n-heksan dan fraksi etil astetat dari ekstrak etanol daun andong merah (Cordyline fruticosa L.A Chevol) dengan konsentrasi 15% secara signifikan mampu menurunkan kadar gula darah pada menit ke 30 dan 90 dengan nilai signifikasi yaitu 0.04<0.05.
