Las universidades bajo el autoritarismo estadounidense: relaciones internas fracturadas, oportunidades transnacionales emergentes

Abstract

Las universidades de Estados Unidos enfrentan ataques del presidente Trump y su partido de extrema derecha MAGA, que buscan restringir la autonomía universitaria y socavar la libertad académica. En octubre de 2025, Trump intentó imponer un pacto a nueve universidades líderes, condicionando la financiación federal a determinadas exigencias. Este ensayo reflexiona sobre la relación histórica entre universidades y gobierno, ahora desmantelada, y plantea preguntas sobre la capacidad de las universidades para resistir la intervención autoritaria. Se analiza el papel de estados de tendencia demócrata, como California, y de marcos regionales e internacionales, como la Coalición para la Libertad Académica en las Américas (CLAA) y los Principios Interamericanos sobre Libertad Académica y Autonomía Universitaria (2021) para combatir este tipo de ataques.
