Abstract

El libro Memorias urbanas en conflicto en América Latina y Europa explora las complejas y a menudo contenciosas formas en que los espacios urbanos se convierten en sitios de memoria, enfocándose en la resignificación y las disputas sobre pasados traumáticos. Destaca cómo las ciudades, en tanto densas redes de capas mnemónicas, están en constante transformación y se correlacionan con condiciones políticas, económicas y culturales. El volumen reúne perspectivas interdisciplinarias para discutir prácticas de memoria, desde monumentos y museos promovidos por el Estado hasta iniciativas de la sociedad civil y grupos subalternizados. Examina los desafíos que enfrentan estos esfuerzos, particularmente ante movimientos de extremas derechas que cuestionan marcos memoriales establecidos. La antología subraya la importancia de que el trabajo de memoria urbana no se limite a narrar el pasado, sino que se conecte con las luchas sociales, humanas y ambientales contemporáneas para fomentar un futuro más democrático y plural.
