Evaluación en Contexto Dinámico, una Experiencia en Odontogeriatría

Abstract

Cuando se instaló odontogeriatría en el currículo de pre-grado, dependiente del Departamento de Odontología Conservadora de la Facultad de Odontología, Universidad de Chile, se implementó un cambio en el modelo tradicional de educación clínica, abandonando los requisitos numéricos de procedimientos solicitados a los estudiantes por cada disciplina, a aprobación por altas integrales. Para lograr este objetivo se diseñaron las didácticas basadas en evidencia científica, aplicada a los contextos. Todas las evaluaciones sumativas siguieron esta estrategia. Para diseño protésico se asignaron 4 clases de 1 hora. En ellas se sistematizó 11 características clínicas condicionantes del diseño protésico en casos de los estudiantes. En la tercera evaluación sumativa, y para enfatizar la variabilidad de la clínica, se diseñó 2 preguntas de contexto dinámico. Se les solicitó proponer un diseño protésico para un esquema de dentición parcial y luego declarar cinco características clínicas que impedían ejecutarlo, y a raíz de las características clínicas señaladas realizar un segundo diseño protésico. Los estudiantes solo aplicaron 3 características clínicas a sus diseños: reborde retentivo n=64 (81%), frenillo de inserción marginal n=71 (90%) y movilidad de diente pilar n=1 (1%). Todos los estudiantes n=79 (100%) respondieron una característica clínica, n=73 (92%) justificaron dos y solo 1 estudiante n=1 (1%) justificó con 3 características clínicas. Solo 9 estudiantes n= (11%) dibujaron el segundo diseño. Las notas fueron comparadas con las evaluaciones anteriores, observándose una drástica caída de ellas. Conclusiones. La asistencia no obligatoria a clases y estrategias informales de aprendizaje pueden en parte, justificar estos resultados.
