La diversidad en sistemas de partidos

Abstract

Cuando los partidos políticos compiten por ocupar cierto espacio electoral resulta una situación similar a la que se da en los ecosistemas del mundo natural cuando las plantas luchan por conquistar su territorio. Cuando esto sucede en el contexto de la estructura política de un sistema parlamentario, nos encontramos con que las variaciones que se van produciendo atraviesan por una serie de fases similares a aquéllas experimentadas en las estructuras de los ecosistemas, un fenómeno que los ecologistas denominan "sucesión". Se traza un modelo general de este fenómeno de sucesión basado en la limitación del espacio disponible. Se describe la competición que se establece, y se concluye que la aplicación de este modelo es válida para el análisis de los partidos políticos como ecosistemas.
