La exteriorización de la xenofobia

Abstract

La creciente presión inmigratoria, la "real" y la "transmitida" por los medios de comunicación, favorece la mayor visibilidad de la inmigración y su conversión en "problema social". La presente investigación indaga en los ejes principales de los discursos xenófobos (la defensa de la identidad nacional-cultural, la pérdida de privilegios grupales, el aumento de la inseguridad ciudadana, el desempleo) y en los factores que propician su exteriorización (el desconocimiento mutuo, el tratamiento de los medios da comunicación, los discursos políticos y la metodología seguida en su medición). La exposición de estudios teórico-empíricos se complementa con el análisis de encuestas recientes y de precedentes que incluyen los mismos indicadores de xenofobia. El uso conjunto del análisis de conglomerados K-medias y discriminante ayuda en la configuración de la evolución de las actitudes ante la inmigración desde 1993 a 2004 y en el conocimiento de las variables que más inciden en su diferenciación. Los datos de opinión se interpretan dentro de los límites definidos espacial y metodológicamente.
