Abstract

<p>El &aacute;rea de los movimientos sociales constituye una perspectiva clave para el an&aacute;lisis de los conflictos que se multiplican en los pa&iacute;ses avanzados porque permite vincular el nivel abstracto desde el que suele formularse su interpretaci&oacute;n con datos emp&iacute;ricos sobre las organizaciones y los actores que las protagonizan.&nbsp;</p> <p>Al comienzo de los a&ntilde;os noventa, el papel central de los movimientos sociales en la brusca transformaci&oacute;n de los sistemas comunistas en los pa&iacute;ses de Europa del Este de Europa represent&oacute; un desaf&iacute;o a las teor&iacute;as prevalecientes en este campo, que no permit&iacute;an unas explicaciones satisfactorias de los hechos, al tiempo que mostr&oacute; sus dificultades para precedir estos fen&oacute;menos. En Occidente, el desaf&iacute;o que ha supuesto el surgimiento de nuevas formas de acci&oacute;n colectiva constituye un fen&oacute;meno paralelo al declive del movimiento obrero.</p> <p>Este desaf&iacute;o es abordado en este libro, y es conceptualizado como un positivo "impacto epitemol&oacute;gico" de los movimientos sociales contempor&aacute;neos, ya que ha contribuido al desarrollo de &eacute;ste &aacute;rea de estudio y a la creciente influencia de las perspectivas constructivistas compartidas por la mayor&iacute;a de los autores.</p> <p>El libro se ocupa de las principales cuestiones planteadas por los cambios en las formas de acci&oacute;n colectiva y contiene datos e ideas que permiten entenderlos mejor.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
