Research on the early diagnosis and prognosis of the more common sporadic, non-familial form of FTD is currently insufficient. This causes diagnostic delays and an incomplete understanding of its etiology, hindering the inclusion of sporadic FTD patients in clinical trials. It is crucial sporadic FTD becomes trial-ready once therapeutics become available. Hopefully, this thesis will warrant FTD scientists that we have to act now to ensure that sporadic FTD, the omitted majority of the spectrum, is no longer forgotten.
