The analysis of electoral justice has received less attention in electoral studies than the one that was granted to other aspects involved in elections. Examining the institutional design of state electoral courts, we reach the conclusion that there is no positive linear relationship between their independence and transparency, and that in Mexico these courts are more independent than transparent. As a consequence, there is the possibility that elections and their results are usually not recognized by all political actors. From the findings, we discuss about the methodology that was used and the challenges of future studies.
