Abstract

Guatemala es un país de una gran diversidad biológica y cultural, lo que se manifiesta con un amplio uso tradicional de los recursos naturales para satisfacer las necesidades diarias de la población La Facultad de Ciencias Químicas y Farmacia cuenta con cinco carreras y múltiples disciplinas que se complementan para facilitar el estudio y desarrollo de los recursos naturales incluyendo su identificación biológica, caracterización química, validación científica in vitro e in vivo, transformación industrial y control de calidad de acuerdo a las propiedades esperadas y las normas específicas internacionales. La necesidad de diversificar las fuentes de producción nacional, tecnificar la transformación de las materias primas, mejorar el aprovechamiento de los recursos naturales, dar valor agregado a nuestros productos y viabilizar la agroindustria nacional, hacen suponer que la contribución multidisciplinaria de los profesionales de la Facultad será de suma importancia para el desarrollo del país, haciendo que se generen productos más competitivos para el mercado nacional e internacional.
