Stress deserves to be studied more thoroughly. M. Abeghyan, H. Acharyan, T. Garagulyan, E. Jrbashyan, S. Abrahamyan, P. Poghosyan, R. Tokhmakhyan, A. Petrosyan, Y. Avetisyan, H. Zakaryan, Z. Aghajanyan and others studied the issues regarding stress in the field of the Armenian linguistics. Stress is one of the main aspects of prosody. The role of prosody is especially important in the musicality and harmony of speech. In the course of time, different types of accents were distinguished. Our language is characterized by the regular use of accent, it has a constant, fixed position: it is final-syllabic and stable-kinetic. Nowadays, stress is articulated in the process of normalization of accent, with tonal manifestations, stylistic-applicative meanings and communicative-tonal role. We have studied the works devoted to the study of stress of the Armenian language. The methodological basis is the combination and analysis of existing theoretical thesises. We have presented the used literary sources chronologically. The paper touches upon the decision of the Terminological Committee.
