Research on the Relationship between Soundscape Situational Perception and Overall Soundscape Satisfaction

Abstract

This study selects Phoenix Mountain in Dinghu, Zhaoqing, Guangdong, known as a "world-renowned longevity town," as the case study area and delves into tourists' soundscape experiences and explores the manifestations of situational perception within these scenes, in which a measurement system for soundscape situational perception was constructed and validated. Furthermore, the study analyzes the intrinsic relationship between various dimensions of situational perception and overall soundscape satisfaction. The research finds that soundscape situational perception consists of four dimensions, namely "relaxation," "association," "tranquility," and "aesthetic appeal", among which only "association" and "aesthetic appeal" significantly impact overall soundscape satisfaction, indicating that while people may not elevate their emotional responses to relaxation and tranquility, they do experience positive emotions and attitudes through quiet and natural soundscape, which significantly enhance overall satisfaction with the soundscape. This study guides forestry workers to focus more on the emotional value of forest soundscapes.
